The End of Time is a two-part Doctor Who special that was broadcast during the 2009–2010 Christmas season, concluding the 2009 Specials "interim season". This was the last story for David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor prior to the character's regeneration into his eleventh incarnation, with Matt Smith making his first on screen appearance as the new Doctor. It is also the last Doctor Who story written by Russell T Davies. The two-part story is notable for revealing many aspects of the Last Great Time War.

Synopsis

Part 1

It is the Tenth Doctor's final journey - but his psychotic nemesis The Master has been reborn, on Christmas Eve. With both determined to cheat death, the battle ranges from the wastelands of London to the mysterious Immortality Gate, while the alien Ood warn of an even greater danger approaching, as a terrible shadow falls across the entire Universe.
Part 2

The Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master's plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of drums growing louder, and an ancient trap closing around the Earth, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and the deadly prophecy warns: "He will knock four times."

Already missing David Tennant awww.

Not sure this all 100% made sense, but the wrap up at the end as his 'reward' was interesting. Lets face it I know I wanted to know Captain Jack was still getting some action and won't be a depressed moppet forever.

Yeah, very interesting... i'll post my convoluted thoughts at another time.

I miss Tennant already too. But doesn't Matt Smith look like a bit of alright!

Have you seen the preview trailer? He looks smokin' in it.

Give the kid a chance, he may just surprise us all. Tennant was amazing, we can't expect Smith to be just as good.

I'll wait and see on the acting ability, but I don't find him attractive at all.

It was fun, it was entertaining, it made me weep, and as a narritive, RTD needs a kick in the nads.

I'm bitterly disposed towards the new guy, but I felt that way toward Tennant at the start too.

I liked Tennant before Dr Who so I was quite excited when it turned out to be him (although from recollection the finale of S1 was one of the first eps I saw I think, so I wasn't attached to Eccleston).

I'm kind of relieved to be having no more RTD. Bring on Moffat, that's the exciting bit I reckon. smile

The Doctor could well have been a 50+ year old bloke (just as many of the previous ones have been). He can be cool and dynamic without being some young(ish) sex bomb.

Mind you, his new ranga lady friend looks rather yummy...mmmm...

I didn't mind the two episodes, although they were rather different from each other. Nothing special, a couple of silly red herrings, but several things that made more sense on second viewing or checking back on the old Doctor stuff...I even came across some stuff accidentally that shows that RTD really, really knows his shit. Doesn't make it great viewing though, bring on Moffat x 2.

Simon Peg has been on Dr Who with bleached blonde hairas an evil dude and they do look a bit similar in a Tin Tin sort of way as blondes so its understandable.
